Flagpole Finishes
An overview of the satin, anodized, and powder coat finishes available on commercial aluminum flagpoles.
The finish you choose affects both the appearance and long-term durability of your flagpole. Commercial aluminum flagpoles are available in three primary finish types — satin, anodized, and powder coat — each with its own balance of cost, color options, and longevity.
What's covered
Satin Aluminum Finish
Our aluminum flagpoles are crafted from Aluminum Alloy 6063, a marine-grade alloy known for its exceptional corrosion resistance. When exposed to air, aluminum naturally forms a protective layer of aluminum oxide, which defends against corrosion and maintains the flagpole's aesthetic appeal over its lifetime, even without additional finishing.
The satin aluminum finish is achieved through a multi-pass mechanical rotary sanding process using specialized abrasives. This meticulous method ensures a consistent, brushed aluminum appearance that has become the industry's preferred choice for a low-maintenance and durable flagpole finish.
Available Color
Satin is the most economical finish and the industry standard for commercial aluminum flagpoles.
Anodized Finish
Anodized finishes are achieved by immersing the flagpole material in an acid solution and applying a direct current, creating a durable colored oxide film that becomes part of the aluminum itself. The result is exceptional color stability and corrosion resistance.
Standard anodized finishes for flagpoles include clear, dark bronze, and black.
Available Colors
Anodized finishes are more expensive than satin but offer long-lasting color stability and protection.
Powder Coat Finish
Powder coat finishes are applied by electrostatically spraying polyester or urethane powder onto the flagpole, then curing it in an oven. The result is a durable, uniform finish available in a wide range of colors.
Standard powder coat finishes include clear, bronzetone, black, and white. For custom colors, provide an RAL color number or a color chip sample, and we can create the perfect powder coat color for your project.
Available Colors
Powder coat is slightly less expensive than anodized while still offering strong durability and the widest range of color options — including custom RAL colors for matching brand or building requirements.
