Memorial day is just around the corner and to help kick it off, we thought we'd show some great flag displays set up for Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and other holidays. This is at the Friendship Cemetery in Paragon, Indiana. Hundreds of flags were set into the ground around a nice flagpole. Though there was a gate between the road and the flags, it was hard not to see the display and stop. Definitely worth seeing.

Recently my family adopted the unknown grave of William E. Dow, missing in action (Germany) by April 1945. We now like to put effort in locating his family and let them know we too honor his remembrance. According to Air Force files (Historical Research Agency), William last address in the US was: Rural Route 1, Paragon, Indiana. His father: Mr. Melvin Dow. " Rural Route" might not be quite accurate. The copy of that old Air Force document faded somewhat.
Brief background info:
1LT William Dow was captain of a twin engine bomber and was shot down over Wittenberg near Berlin on April 16Th 1945. Only one of his six crew members managed to bail out successfully. Graves of LT Dow and his aircrew are yet unknown. Their names are written on " The Walls of the Missing at the Margraten American Cemetery , the Netherlands. All 8.300 graves and many names at the walls have been adopted by Dutch people to show their deep respect and gratitude to these boys and girls as to their families.
Would be wonderful if you could be of any help in tracing Williams family !
With kind regards,
Rob Debey

This is an amazing story! I will forward this to the City of Paragon and hopefully we can reach the family together.
Cheers,
