Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Our flag sits outside the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC. There are Holocaust Memorial museums all over the country. They are active parts of the community to help educate and preserve the rich history of Jewish people. Unfortunately, genocide is not a thing of the past. Parts of the world are plagued with racial and prejudice resulting in the tyranny of one community upon another.

Remembering the past is integral to not repeating the past. Flag flyers know the importance to upholding values and honoring those who have come before us to provide a life of prosperity. Even in hard economic times, you can be grateful for the overwhelming accomplishments of our country and other countries around the world. We have been on the right side, and the wrong side. But we never fail to always question our actions and do what is moral, collectively, as a nation. The holocaust will always be an important lesson in history.
