The information below shows the recommended flag sizes for various exposed flagpole heights. Flag size is based upon the height of the flagpole and number of flags going on that pole.

A Single Flag on a Pole

  • The width of the flag should be 1/2 the length of the pole for flags mounted on roofs
  • The flag should be 3/8 to 1/2 the length of the pole for flags on outrigger poles

Freestanding (In-Ground) Outdoor Flagpoles

  • The width of a standard-sized flag should be 1/4 the height of the flagpole
